1. New Board members

 

At the annual PLCopen General Meeting major changes in the PLCopen Board of Management were voted upon.
 

Siegfried Oblasser of Siemens AG, who was a member of the Board of Management almost since the start of PLCopen in 1992, and our Treasurer for many years, recently retired and therefore left the Board. PLCopen sincerely thanks him for all his dedicated work and counseling.
 

We are glad to announce that Naoki Seno san of Omron Corporation in Japan, and Henning Sandfort of Siemens in Germany, have joined the Board of Management as new members.


Naoki Seno san is General Manager of the Automation Systems Division HQ of Omron and based in Japan.

Henning Sandfort is the Head Software and Basic Components - Product Management of Siemens and based in Nuremberg, Germany.


The PLCopen Board of Management welcomes the new members and is confident to continue the excellent cooperation between the members of the Board.

2. New Chairman PLCopen Japan

 

Mr. Iko Miyazawa of the Kanagawa Industrial Technology Center indicated that he wished to hand over his tasks of Chairman of PLCopen Japan to Mr. Toru Mizuya.

His proposal was unanimously accepted by the General Meeting of PLCopen Japan in May this year.

We sincerely thank Mr. Miyazawa san, who chaired PLCopen Japan since 2002, for his dedicated work during so many years.

We welcome his successor Mr. Mizuya san who also works for the KITC, and look forward to continue our excellent cooperation with PLCopen Japan.

3. PLCopen Partner at PACK EXPO International 2014


PLCopen is helping advance the packaging and processing industry by partnering with one of the largest tradeshows in North America for processing and packaging professionals – PACK EXPO International. 4. PLCopen welcomes new members
 

We welcome four new members who joined PLCopen lately:

 

Dassault Systemes , the 3D experience company in France.
 

Cape Town School of Engineering is a new institute in South Africa.
 

RWTH Aachen is a University in Germany. Their computer science department joined PLCopen as an educational institute.
 

BEST Engineering in Sweden offers project management, programming and training services for automation applications based on Codesys.

Furthermore they have a training program for open motion control. And as such received the certificate for PLCopen certified training centre.

5. New PLCopen Motion Control certifications


Two of our members have been awarded the PLCopen Motion Control certification:

 

ABB Automation Products for their product ABB AC500 PS552-MC Motion Control Library, and
 

Schneider Electric for their product Motion library for integrated compact drive Lexium32i.

6. Changes in PLCopen China
 

After more than 10 years of activities of PLCopen in China, we now come to a new phase.
On September 22, at the General Meeting of PLCopen China, many changes were announced and voted upon.
 

After 9 years of incredible support, Prof. Peng Yu retires as Honorary Chairman of PLCopen China. We owe him much gratitude for all his energy and contributions. As the new Chairman  Prof. Yan Yi of the Hangzhou Dianzi University was proposed and accepted. With many years of experience in the field as well as support to PLCopen, he will be a good successor.
 

Last but not least a new Secretary General for PLCopen China was proposed, creating the basis to provide a much stronger presence in China and resulting in many more local activities and better visibility. Mr. Li Wei Zong was voted as the new Secretary General.
