3. PLCopen Motion Control - New certification for 3S-Smart Software Solutions

PLCopen handed out new certificates for Motion Control Compliance (part 1 and 2) to 3S - Smart Software Solutions GmbH in Germany. The certifications are provided for their CoDeSys SoftMotion V3 product.

Motion functionality integrated in the CoDeSys programming and runtime system - that is CoDeSys SoftMotion. A tool kit integrated in the wide spread IEC 61131-3 Programming system supplies the desired motion functionality. This tool kit makes use of the functions of the IEC 61131-3 programming languages and implements the PLCopen motion function blocks for single and multi axes motion control. The axes are made available to the user in form of an abstract data structure which is bus- and manufacturer-independent. The actual connection to the field bus takes place via a driver interface. The drives are configured in the CoDeSys device configuration in the project tree.

KW Software

MULTIPROG 5.0 is the new version of the IEC 61131-3 programming system by KW-Software. The further development of the IEC 61131 platform provides full compatibility with controllers already in use. MULTIPROG 5.0 provides a completely revised user interface with floating windows, auto-hide, drag & drop and various selectable layouts. The graphical editor for programming in FBD/Ladder/SFC combines free graphical editing with enhanced autorouting and autoplacement as well as optimized keyboard operation. The automatic project generation fully supports the PLCopen XML format. PLC projects can, for example, be created from Matlab Simulink.

Commissioning of a PLC program is considerably shortened by a simulation user interface that allows extended application tests including time response tests. All MULTIPROG 4.0 functions are available in the new version and full project compatibility is ensured.

The MULTIPROG 5.0 OEM release is immediately available for customer use. The OEM release includes the user interface languages German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Chinese.

With logi.CAD version 5.1 software manufacturer logi.cals optimizes process flows in industrial plant planning and automation.

With the new application logi.CED (Cause-and-Effect-Designer) the software engineers of logi.cals have developed an essential enhancement for logi.CAD: This new add-on is capable of detecting and reporting possibly dangerous actions before they can cause damage. In addition, usability has been optimized considerably in logi.CAD version 5.1: Popular office document formats can be integrated, and logi.CAD project data can be stored in upward- and downward-compatible data format. logi.CAD 5.1 will be launched at the end of March 2009.
